Innovation in WHS award finalists

This years finalists in the “Innovation in WHS” award were WesTrac, Nexxis and Byrnecut having each submitted some amazing innovations in improving health and safety in the workplace and out in the field.

IFAP / Safeway Awards

The SafeWay Awards are Western Australia’s premier industry work health and safety awards, recognising outstanding innovation, management, strategies, solutions and contribution of both individuals and organisations in work health and safety. As attitudes and approaches to work health and safety have evolved, the SafeWay Awards have continued to change and improve.

Each year IFAP (Industry Foundation for Accident Prevention) do a fantastic job in organising the awards in conjunction with SafeWay and an array of sponsors, of which Epic IT is proud to be part of. These great local WA companies, help make this event the success it is.

This year, three finalists were selected in each of the ten award categories announced below:

Innovation in WHS Award (Sponsored by Epic IT)
Health and Wellbeing Award
WHS Management Award – SME
WHS Management Award – Large
Women in WHS Award
WHS Indigenous Engagement Award
WHS Program and Promotion Award
Emergency Preparedness Award
Health and Safety Representative Award
WHS Leadership Award

And the winner was ….

On behalf of Epic IT, sending a massive congratulations to the team at Nexxis for their amazing innovative solution into high risk surveillance and recovery.

This years winner of the “Innovation in WHS” award, consisted of a remotely controlled drone equipped with additional hardware and software to allow the robotic aircraft, access into dangerous environments. Doing so eliminated the need to risk the health and safety of humans performing similar operations.

The drone consists of additional sensors such as night vision along with robotic arms allowing the craft to perform complex operations in poor visibility such as smoke filled buildings and night time operations.

Congratulations again to Nexxis for your great idea and hard work. Given our team loves their gadgets and tech, we REALLY look forward to seeing this amazing piece of innovation in action!

Epic IT is very proud to be part of such an important event. An event that recognizes the contributions and achievements of so many individuals and organizations in Western Australia in the field of workplace safety. Workplace safety ensures that employees return safely home to their loved ones every day. Another important aspect of WHS is that without it there is no economy. Covid-19 is a very recent example of how workplace safety (and safety in general) has the power to shut down an entire country’s economy. Well done IFAP and Safeway for supporting such an important initiative.

Managed IT Partnership for 2021 – IFAP and Epic IT

This year Epic IT have been lucky enough to be partnering with IFAP. Our IT consultants will be carrying out various IT positioning and cyber security audits on IFAP’s IT infrastructure and help build a two year IT Strategy.

As IFAP plan to expand their operations throughout Western Australia, Epic IT will be assisting with digitally transforming their ICT to enable them to do so. This digital IT transformation will allow IFAP to achieve their goals of expansion in making their team more collaborative, productive and secure when working from their North Lake office, or when out in the field helping their customers.

Epic IT are very excited to be partnered with IFAP for 2021 and help this already successful company design a strategic IT roadmap for their next phase of growth. The IT strategy will consist of deploying IT systems, IT services and the necessary support structures to create a more efficient IT environment, where the IFAP team can grow and drive company success.
