What is a wireless access point?

A wireless access point acts like a traditional network hub for all wireless devices on a network. It broadcasts an SSID and joins all the devices such as computers, Printers, Tablets and Smartphones wirelessly and controls certain aspects of the network such as traffic flow and security.
